Motorist conviction- Drug driving |
||
|
Dear residents of Westgate on Sea,
Today at Medway Magistrates Court, a motorist was convicted of two drug driving related offences, committed on separate dates in Westgate on Sea.
The first offence in March 2024 resulted in a conviction for driving a motor vehicle whilst above the specified drug limit. This followed a collision on Linksfield Road, Westgate on Sea.
The second offence, in December 2024, during which I attended and arrested the motorist, resulted in a conviction for being in charge of a motor vehicle whilst above the specified drug limit. This followed an interaction with the driver on Ursuline Drive, Westgate on Sea. Key to this prosecution was the contact made with Kent Police by a member of the public regarding the standard of driving seen and allowed us to identify the vehicle involved.
The driver received a range of sanctions including a disqualification from driving for 12 months, a fine of £250, and court costs of £450.
Kent Police is passionate about road safety and ensuring the safety of motorist and pedestrians. This highlights that we will take robust action in prosecuting these offences. If you see any driving that causes you concern please contact Kent Police via 999, 101 or the online reporting tool.
With kind regards Steve
